The nursing colleges in Mizoram demand a significant position in the education system of the state. The nursing colleges provide opportunities to the students to opt for nursing education and pursue a career in the nursing field.
There are two major nursing colleges in Mizoram. The nursing colleges were introduced with a view to providing awareness to public health and at the same time help common people with proper medical treatment.
1. Civil hospital School
Civil Hospital, Aizawl occupies a prominent place among medical institutions in Mizoram, having more than 300 beds. It is the main referral centre in the state. It is a vital, diverse, inter-denominational community. The Hospital is managed, administered and owned by Health & Family Welfare Deptt. under Govt. of Mizoram .
In 1996, an Institution of nursing training known as ‘RIPAN’ was established in Mizoram under the sponsorship of NEC in which the course of BSC (N) was introduced. The institution not only provided facilities to nursing students to have an opportunity of completing degree level in nursing subject in the soil of Mizoram, but also provided employment opportunity to those persons already having Master and Bachelor Degree in nursing subject.
As of today, there are 8 numbers of nursing personnel having Gazetted status and 502 numbers of non-Gazetted nursing personnel in Mizoram..

Both the above mentioned nursing colleges of Mizoram contribute greatly to the advancement of the young women of the state of Mizoram. Such colleges help the young girls to make a career and be financially independent.
